About Our 5-Frame Nucleus Colony
Diggin’ Livin’ 5-Frame Nuc Our 5-frame nuc (A “nuc”, short for nucleus colony, is a miniature, fully functioning honey bee colony) honeybee colonies come housed in a convenient, water-resistant cardboard to-go box, using Jester’s EZ Nuc box with medium frames. Each colony includes a naturally reared queen, raised in alignment with the techniques and principles shared in Raising Resilient Bees. Our queens are naturally reared by the colony, supporting strong, adaptable bees that are ready to grow and thrive. Each nuc is built on Western-sized frames, crafted with care in our woodshop in Takilma, Oregon, and assembled with beeswax foundation. No plastic foundation is used.
